What is “groep 8 schoolkamp” in Dutch primary schools?
In the Netherlands, primary school runs from groep 1 to groep 8, and the final year ends with a rite of passage every Dutch kid remembers: the groep 8 schoolkamp. Classes pile onto bikes and ride to a kampadres (a youth-hostel-style site, often a blokhut), where they sleep three or four nights, swim, run bonte avond talent shows, play ruilspel (start with an apple, trade up across the village), and stay up too late.
This clip is the standard recap: the meester and juffen show up for the barbecue and bonte avond, kids do ruilspel, and the trip ends with “een paar dagen bijslapen”.
