What does “Chunks” mean in German?
Real German speakers reach for whole little phrases they already know — blocks like “ich hab keine Ahnung” (no idea), “mal schauen” (we’ll see), or “geht klar” (sure, no problem). Language teachers call these ready-made units Chunks — a borrowed English term from language learning, not everyday German: you say them as one piece, not word by word. The payoff is speed — the more of these blocks you carry, the less your brain pauses mid-sentence to build.
