What does “التجويد” mean in Arabic?
التجويد (at-tajweed) is the classical system of rules that govern how the Quran is recited — controlling each letter’s point of articulation, vowel length, nasalization, and where to pause. The word comes from the root j-w-d (ج-و-د), meaning “to make excellent.” Mastering it is considered an act of devotion: a single mispronounced letter can flip the meaning of a word entirely.
In the clip, the host has heard that twelve-year-old Qusai has a beautiful voice “بالتجوين” — the Levantine spoken form of التجويد.
