How do you say dates in Italian?

To say a date in Italian, you use a plain counting number for the day, not a ranked one. So “il diciassette febbraio” works out to “the seventeen February,” even though English says “the seventeenth of February.” The pattern is “il” + day number + month, with no word for “of.” The one day that breaks this is the first, which uses “il primo” (the first) instead of “uno.”

The same shape repeats with every speaker: “il tre luglio” (the three July), “il venticinque novembre,” “il trentuno agosto.” You always pick the everyday number you’d use for counting, and months stay lowercase in Italian.
