What does “geleakt” mean in German?
Geleakt is the German past participle of leaken, borrowed straight from English “to leak.” German doesn’t just import the word — it runs it through its own machine: take the English stem, wrap it in ge-…-t, and out comes a regular weak participle. So leaken becomes geleakt, exactly the way googeln becomes gegoogelt. The vibe is casual and online, but the grammar is textbook-native.
The same frame handles a whole wave of borrowed verbs: gegoogelt (googled), gedownloadet (downloaded), gestreamt (streamed). “Liked” is the tricky one — the tidy spelling is gelikt rather than geliked, since German drops that silent English -e. You’ll meet these mostly in chats, comments, and gaming talk, and rarely in formal writing.
