Kaas met appelstroop is one of Dutch boterhammen-tradition’s quietly iconic combinations: a slice of cheese (usually mild jong belegen or Goudse) topped with a thick layer of appelstroop (a dark, slow-boiled apple-and-pear syrup made in Limburg).
