What is the Dutch “Klokhuis SoortSafari”?
SoortSafari is a citizen-science platform run by Het Klokhuis together with Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Stichting RAVON. Through a mobile app, Dutch kids photograph plants, insects, snails, frogs, and other species they spot in the wild; the data feeds national biodiversity research and tracks the impact of urbanization and climate change on Dutch nature. Each TV season, Klokhuis runs a soort van de week (species of the week) competition. The platform is one of the country’s largest citizen-science programs, with hundreds of thousands of submissions logged in a typical year.
